HM Land Registry Now Accepting Electronic Signatures

The HM Land Registry has begun accepting electronic signatures. Previously during lockdown, we could use a scanned in signature so we could already do everything remotely but now the middleman has been cut out and contracts can now be signed much quicker. This will allow us to continue looking for property to invest in without risking our health. Making transactions safer and quicker in the current climate is particularly important as there are a few factors that make right now a great time to buy. Firstly, house prices are low and borrowing is cheap, this has been caused by stagnation but as the market livens up these will start to go back up so getting started straight away is really important for us. Secondly, the stamp duty holiday only lasts until March next year so any help to get deals done quicker is appreciated. In summary, electronic signatures are the final step to make transactions almost entirely remote which is really great for keeping everyone safe and speeding up deals now that the market has been flooded with enquiries since the lockdown was lifted.
